Governance and Structure

 

EarthWatch Research Institute (EWRI) is an open and democratic organization dealing with water, sanitation and sustainability operating in a broad social context, reflecting the needs of the environment and people and their interactions.

The membership of EWRI consists of Informational/Associate Members, Professionals/Participatory Members, Organizational Members, Senior/Fellows and Student Members as defined in the EWRI Constitution and By-Laws. Informational/Associate Members, Professionals/Participatory Members, Organizational Members, Senior/Fellows Members constitute the voting membership of the Society; these categories of Members may also hold office within EWRI. Members are qualified professionals who share the stated purpose of the institute.

The affairs of the Institute are managed by the membership through the Governing Board which the highest policy is making body of the Institute. They are charge with the responsibility of developing policies for the institute in line with the objectives of the institute. The Board meet at least one time a year; Senateresponsible for the general direction and management of the institute including registration of members into the membership arms of the institute; Executive Council (EC), the Executive Council of the Institute shall be responsible for administration and implementation of the membership programmes of the Institute and Thematic Group (TG), the Thematic Group shall be the functional unit of the institute. All Members shall belong to one or two Thematic Group. Each Thematic Group shall actively contribute to the research and other activities of the institute. Each Thematic Group shall meet to elect their Chairmen/Vice Chairmen and Secretaries/Assistants Secretaries
